Antonina is a passionate advocate for Non-Directive Child-Centred Therapy. Her approach to Play Therapy is gentle and respectful of the child. She believes in building trusting, empathic and reciprocal relationships with children in therapy aiming to allow the right level of permissiveness combined with the gentle limit setting to create an environment that is safe for the child to process what is needed.
She specialises in working with young children with anxiety, trauma, fears, sleep disturbances, anger and behavioural issues.
Antonina recognises the importance of supporting parents in their involvement in therapy with their children and in the intergenerational future of Filial therapy in helping parents to become therapeutic agents to their children. This year she is working on a thesis researching Filial Therapy integration with Mindfulness training to address both child and parental anxiety.
Antonina also has an interest in including animals in therapy with children and in family therapy and has undergone thorough training with Rise VanFleet and Tracie J Faa-Thompson, the co-founders of Animal Assisted Play Therapy (AAPTTM) and currently working towards International Certification in AAPTTM.
