Lauren is a registered psychologist, a master’s level counsellor and accredited play therapist. She is passionate about Child Centred Play Therapy and its relational approach to working with children. She works with children by entering into their world with warmth, respect and playfulness. She can then help them make sense of their experiences. She brings a heart-felt approach, built on a foundation of trust and the development of a safe space, through the therapeutic relationship. Her special interests and expertise are in the field child trauma, emotional and developmental disorders, and grief and loss.
Lauren values the whole family system and believes that parents and caregivers are of vital importance in the therapeutic process. She keeps them informed, helps them to feel part of, and supported throughout, the entire therapeutic journey.
Lauren has over 10 years’ experience working in residential out-of-home care and directly supporting children, young people and their families with histories of trauma, abuse and neglect. In addition to this, Lauren has worked in schools, hospitals, mental health, disability, counselling, youth work, and triage for government, not for profit, mainstream and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.
