This program will support children, educators, and families by providing presentations and collaboration opportunities with our qualified therapeutic specialists who are guided by their understanding of interpersonal neurobiology and the nervous system. At Play Therapy Melbourne, we work closely with teachers and educators. We use an evidence-based approach to promote neural integration, support nervous system regulation, and help re-pattern children’s nervous systems.
We are extending our capacity to work with educators through this program which focusses on evidence informed, positive, strength-based approaches to support children’s social and emotional wellbeing and uses play-based approach, which strongly aligns with kindergarten services. Our presentations draw on the frameworks and approaches used within our clinical practice but have been adapted to suit educators and families wherever they are at.
We will offer support in 3 levels to increase accessibility to our program and will offer flexibility to meet each service’s needs. Additional training hours can be added to each level as required.
Level 1: 2 x 2 hours presentations for educators on social skills, brain development, and emotional well-being with a focus on understanding the BRAIN STATES and supporting educators’ skills to ensure children access their limbic area so that they are able to LEARN.
Level 2: Level 1 support + 1 x 2 hours presentation/information evening for parents/caregivers on similar topics, adapted for parents and aimed at an appropriate level with capacity for parents to access more detailed information if required (online option for parents’ ease of attendance).
Level 3: Level 2 support, + 5 x 2 hours service visits from Therapeutic Specialist to observe educators and teachers, provide modelling of techniques and reflective skills and work directly with children to further develop these skills.
